Paralegal - Litigation - New York

Core Responsibilities: Work closely with attorneys to manage case documents, including the collection, organization, review, and production of documents Draft, review, and revise simple litigation documents as needed for attorney review Assist with the preparation of court filings, including cite and fact checking legal briefs, cross-reference checks, confirming proper Bluebook citations, proofreading, and assembling of exhibits and appendices Perform research using various research tools, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR, and other systems Draft discovery documents and pleadings for attorney review Responsible for all phases of trial and arbitration preparation, including tracking exhibits, assisting with technology, and working with court reporters, courtroom personnel, hotel contacts, vendors, clients, and witnesses Coordinate and prepare documents for production, including preparing chronologies of facts and creating document production logs, privilege logs, and redaction logs Responsible for account management and data organization, including uploads and downloads using systems such as ShareFile Responsible for electronic filings in assigned courts. Must be familiar with and keep up to date on all filing rules, procedures, and judges' individual practices Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm setting Proficient in searching and retrieving information from court-related databases (e.g., CourtLink, PACER, Bloomberg Law, CourtAlert) and other online sources of case information Must be highly familiar with litigation practice and able to quickly and accurately determine which filings and documents trigger future deadlines Demonstrated familiarity with federal, state, and local court systems, including electronic filing systems Demonstrated familiarity with New York Civil Practice Law and Rules and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure Proficiency with e-discovery tools (e.g., Everlaw, Relativity) Proficiency with artificial intelligence tools used in the legal industry Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, along with Adobe Acrobat Strong organizational skills Strong attention to detail Good judgment Strong interpersonal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Able to work harmoniously and effectively with others Able to preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion Able to work under pressure Able to effectively prioritize competing demands under tight deadlines Working Conditions: Ability to work overtime as needed Ability to lift 20 pounds without assistance This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities of the employee for this job.
