Job TitleAssistant Baseball Coach Agency Texas A&M University - Texarkana Department University Athletics - Baseball Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationTexarkana, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description The Assistant Coach provides assistance to the head coach with all areas of team administration and management, including practice sessions, conditioning workouts, monitoring of student-athletes academic progress, and evaluation and recruiting of prospective student-athletes for the team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the head coach and other staff members with routine administrative responsibilities of the assigned sport program and management of the men/women's team. Coaches at the direction of the head coach, provide instruction, demonstration and teaching the sport's dynamics to student-athletes to ensure maximum potential of individuals and the team. Recruits and scout’s prospective student-athletes from high school, junior and community colleges. Makes recommendations to the head coach regarding potential of student-athletes. Stay current, understand, and adhere to all NAIA and NCAA guidelines and maintain up-to-date rosters, and other information required by athletic department. Will report any violations of these established rules, which may arise, to the proper officials. Assist head coach in coordinating team travel, arranging competitive schedule, organizing and scheduling practice sessions, updating and maintaining student-athlete recruiting databases, updating and maintaining files (both hard copy and video) of opponents. Assist in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive public relations program. Assist in managing the operations of sport camps and/or clinics. Assist in baseball fund-raising and booster events in accordance with NAIA, Red River Athletic Conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athlete conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality and other areas. Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field Minimum three (3) years of collegiate coaching experience at the NJCAA, NCAA or NAIA level General knowledge of NAIA and NCAA rules. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours. Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course Ability to maintain confidentiality. Physical Requirements Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels, standing throughout the day, the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.
