Summary

The Knowledge Management Counsel – Finance, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, is a senior, independently operating professional with strategic ownership of the Finance KM and innovation function, responsible for driving adoption and delivering measurable impact, with direct leadership engagement and potential supervisory duties. The role combines substantive Finance law insight with AI-driven innovation and cross-border coordination to support the practice and its clients.


Location

This position can sit in any of our U.S. offices and offers a flexible hybrid work schedule.


Responsibilities

• Independently formulates and regularly assesses, prioritizes, and updates the Finance practice’s KM and innovation plan in consultation with practice leadership and partners.
• Collaborates with Finance practice group lawyers as the primary point of contact to solicit and capture ideas for legal innovation and to help translate those ideas into potential solutions enabled by technology with a focus on value generated.
• Develops Finance-specific AI workflows, prompts, agents, playbooks, and knowledge resources.
• Advises Finance attorneys on optimal AI tool selection for specific workflows and matter stages, serving as a go-to resource for practical technology guidance.
• Ideates, designs, and executes KM projects and initiatives driving measurable improvements in practice efficiency, AI adoption and enablement, AI-ready knowledge assets, and knowledge sharing.
• Curates and maintains Finance-specific forms, precedents, and knowledge assets.
• Develops and delivers KM and innovation focused training programs for Finance attorneys and clients, including highlighting the most effective AI tools and functionality.
• Captures and analyzes legal, industry, and market trends in Finance law and proactively identifies opportunities for thought leadership.
• Coordinates with international colleagues on cross-border Finance projects.
• Optimizes collaboration across Finance lawyers, offices, and jurisdictions.
• Acts as an ambassador for the KM Team and broader Knowledge and Innovation Department within the Finance practice.
• Collaborates with IT/Innovation, Legal Service Delivery, Information Governance/OGC, BD/Marketing, and international knowledge teams.
• Serves as a direct interface with senior firm leadership, Finance practice group leaders, and business group heads on KM strategy, resource allocation, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Desired Skills

Deep familiarity with Finance law workflows, especially fund, private, and hybrid capital and debt market financings. Familiarity with project and sports financing is also preferred.

Advanced proficiency and working familiarity with legal technology tools and AI platforms and how they apply to legal work, including workflow, prompt, playbook, and agent development. Ability to translate practice needs into AI-enabled solutions and communicate technical capabilities as practical guidance for attorneys. Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.


Minimum Education

• JD from ABA accredited law school. Admission to state bar.
  
  

Minimum Years of Experience

• 10+ years’ experience in assigned practice area - Finance Law, combined with substantive experience in KM and legal practice innovation experience.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work Environment

The individual selected for this position may have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement comprised of remote and in-office work, the requirement for which will be determined in coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor and may be modified in the firm’s discretion in the future.

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $250,000 - $300,000 per year depending on the candidate’s Finance experience, AI proficiency, and geographic market location.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
