Fair Futures And SILP Director

The Fair Futures and SILP director has direct oversight of Fair Futures team at Kaplan House (Manhattan), Cedar Knolls House (Bronx) and SILP (Supervised Independent Living Program, Bronx). Kaplan House and Cedar Knolls House provides therapeutic and support services to adolescents and ages 16-21 who are referred to us through ACS and the Juvenile Justice system. Our residents have experienced significant trauma, resulting in behavioral, emotional, and functional/development issues. Both Programs offer an extensive independent living skills program, including vocational preparation, and educational services that assist youth towards reaching independence.

The Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP) provides a transitional living environment for older youth who are ready to move towards independent living but could benefit from a supported environment to build the skills required to live independently. The SILP provides resources for youth aged 18 to 21 who are experiencing challenges as they transition to adulthood.

Position Overview:

The Director is responsible for the overall day to day operations of The Fair Futures program at the Group Residence and oversight of the SILP's, under the direction of the Senior Director the Children Residential Programs and support services, the director will be responsible for the overall coordination, administration, management and leadership of services and programming provided within the residential programs. In addition, s/he must provide safe, high quality, programs and adherence to The Jewish Board policies and procedures. In collaboration with multidisciplinary treatment team members, the Director must ensure the integrity of treatment planning processes and maintenance of highest documentation standards as required by regulations and professional scopes of practice.

Key Essential Functions:

Leadership:

Establish annual goals for the program.
Creates and encourages opportunities for staff development and professional growth.
Ensures programmatic compliance with auditing standards and agency policies.
Represents the programs at external stakeholder meetings.
Has overall clinical and administrative responsibility for the program staff; including staff supervision, training and development
Ensures that any necessary programmatic systems are in place to meet all client safety needs, both on and off grounds
Ensure that the site meets appropriate safety and aesthetic standards
Makes certain that appropriate direct clinical supervision is provided to all clinical staff members
Ensures appropriate psychiatric, assessment, therapeutic and independent living disciplines are available and administered to the residents
Identifies, establishes and maintains relationships with community representatives and groups in order to establish enhanced linkages for the client population.
Oversees key administrative staff of the program and ensures appropriate completion/compliance of such work
Participates in the recruitment processes of essential staff and has the ultimate responsibility for candidate selection
Responsible for ensuring that all internal/external regulatory requirements are met
Responsible for the fiscal and human resource management related to the operations of the program
Has the responsibility for development and adherence to department budget
Adheres to the philosophy, values and practices of the Sanctuary model in guiding the day-to-day interactions with residents, staff, with significant focus family engagement.

Management:

Hires and provides clinical and administrative supervision to the Clinical Director, Senior Team Leader and Programming Manager at both programs.
Responsible for budgetary oversight of the program, which includes ensuring that the program meets the budgeted census.
Manage risk regarding client safety by adhering to all risk management protocols

Educational/Training Requirements/ Language Preference:

LCSW, LMSW or a Master's degree in a Behavioral Health or related field.
A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in either child welfare, Juvenile justice, mental health, or other residential treatment setting, three (3) of which having been in a senior managerial/operations level capacity.

Computer Skills Required:

Knowledge of electronic Health record systems or CONNECTIONS preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
Aptitude for learning new systems and application software Experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.

Work Environment/Physical Effort:

Travel between multiple locations.
Engage in physical activities with the youth, as needed.
Walk up and down stairs.
