Tax & Audit SeniorPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Tax & Audit Senior to join our firm and lead tax compliance and audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients. The Tax & Audit Senior will prepare and review individual, partnership, corporate and other business tax returns, oversee audit and review fieldwork, provide technical tax research and planning support, and mentor junior staff to ensure timely, accurate delivery of client services. This role requires strong technical tax and audit knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple engagements and client relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review and finalize individual tax returns (1040 series) including preparation (Prep) of associated schedules and analysesPrepare and review partnership (1065), corporate (1120/1120S) and other business returns accurately and on deadlineLead audit and review engagements, perform substantive testing, document findings, and prepare audit documentation and reportsOversee and mentor junior staff and Tax Seniors; delegate tasks, review workpapers, and provide feedback to support professional developmentPerform technical tax research and provide recommendations on tax planning opportunities, positions, and compliance mattersCoordinate with clients to gather information, communicate findings, and resolve complex tax and audit issuesEnsure quality control, compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and applicable tax and accounting regulationsManage engagement timelines and budgets, track progress, and escalate issues to partners when necessaryUtilize tax software and accounting systems to prepare returns, workpapers and supporting schedules; ensure proper version control and documentationContribute to business development efforts by identifying cross-selling opportunities and supporting proposal and client retention activitiesQualificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred or in-progress; active license a plus3+ years of experience as a Tax Senior, Audit Senior, or similar role at a public accounting firmProven experience preparing and reviewing Individual Returns, Partnerships Returns, corporate returns (1120/1120S), and other Business ReturnsStrong experience with tax return Prep and Review processes and tax compliance workflowsDemonstrated experience leading audits, reviews or other attest engagementsWorking knowledge of tax research tools, tax software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSeries, Drake, Lacerte), and accounting systemsExcellent technical tax knowledge, analytical skills, and attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skills with client-facing experienceAbility to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and supervise junior team membersBachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; Masters in Taxation or advanced degree is a plus
