Senior/Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own the technical architecture for ingestion pipelines, schema mapping, validation, transformation, and orchestration from source systems to production-ready datasets.
• Build and harden backend services and cloud infrastructure using Python, Postgres, and Kubernetes.
• Integrate inconsistent warranty, telematics, ERP, and service systems and turn heterogeneous data into reliable downstream datasets.
• Establish data quality and reliability standards covering validation, lineage, monitoring, and alerting.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and customer-facing teams on the technical vision and roadmap for data onboarding workflows.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews, design documentation, and technical direction.
• Mentor engineers on data architecture and system design and help resolve complex technical problems.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of backend software engineering experience with deep, recent hands-on Python experience.
• Strong experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed production services, including Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Expertise with Postgres and relational data modeling, including performance, migrations, and schema design under production load.
• Demonstrated experience solving data integration problems involving heterogeneous sources and messy real-world inputs.
• Pragmatic ability to select appropriate data technologies rather than relying on a single proprietary stack.
• Track record of mentoring engineers without requiring formal authority.
• Ability to make sound decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and balance MVP delivery with production-grade systems.
• Experience working in early-stage companies and operating with high ownership, strong execution, and effective collaboration.
