This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Coding based in the United States.
This leadership role sits at the intersection of clinical coding operations, revenue cycle performance, and advanced data analytics within a large, high-performing healthcare environment. You will be responsible for overseeing coding strategy, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across professional and/or facility coding teams while driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights. The role combines operational leadership with technical depth, leveraging modern analytics tools to transform coding performance data into actionable intelligence. You will partner closely with compliance, IT, operations, and revenue integrity teams to align coding outcomes with broader organizational goals. A key part of the role involves building scalable reporting frameworks and enabling real-time visibility into performance trends. This is a highly visible leadership position where analytical rigor, technical fluency, and strategic thinking directly shape revenue cycle success.
Accountabilities:
- Provide strategic leadership over coding operations, ensuring accuracy, productivity, compliance, and alignment with regulatory standards.
- Lead and develop coding teams and managers, supporting performance management, coaching, engagement, and organizational growth.
- Monitor, analyze, and improve key coding KPIs including quality, turnaround time, audit performance, and denial trends.
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards to deliver real-time insights into coding performance and operational trends.
- Leverage Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate) and Copilot to automate workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.
- Translate complex coding and operational data into actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Partner with compliance, revenue integrity, IT, and operations teams to ensure coding accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- Drive data-informed initiatives that improve coding efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance financial performance.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare coding, revenue cycle, or health information management.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing coding teams in complex healthcare environments.
- Strong expertise in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and applications.
- Demonstrated experience building Power BI dashboards and developing reporting/analytics solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot, Power Apps, Power Automate, or similar automation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and trends.
- Experience collaborating across technical and operational teams, including IT, analytics, and compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights to executive and operational stakeholders.
- AHIMA or AAPC certification (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC) preferred.
- Exposure to SQL or advanced data analytics tools is a plus.
