This role involves assisting licensed nursing staff with direct patient care and supportive activities, ensuring safety principles are upheld, and escalating patient concerns appropriately. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and delivering exceptional customer service are key components.

Essential Functions

• Perform individualized patient care tasks such as vital signs monitoring, assisting with hygiene, feeding, mobility, and specimen collection under nurse delegation.
• Support emergency department functions including phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen handling after completing required training.
• Assist in ICU with patient monitoring, clerical duties, and recognizing cardiac rhythm changes following arrhythmia course completion.
• Provide technical and clerical support in imaging, including patient preparation, equipment cleaning, and specimen transport.
• In obstetrics, perform scrubbing for deliveries and tubal ligations, assist with circumcisions, prepare delivery suites, and support newborn screenings and specimen collection.
• Offer continuous video observation and verbal redirection for patient safety as a telesitter when assigned.

Education

• Completion of a nurse assistant training program, or
• Six months of nurse assistant experience, or
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced EMT experience, or
• Successful completion of first semester nursing school clinical including basic clinical skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

• One year nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP).

Licenses and Certifications

• Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC prior to start date.
