About the Position

Description: No first-time travelers. Pending Licensure for Psych RN is required. Position may float between units based on needs. On-call requirements do not apply. Weekends are required, with every other weekend scheduled. Block schedules are not required. Expected ratios are 1:5 during days and evenings, and 1:10 for nights. 48-hour workweeks are not approved. Travelers may float to other units based on skill sets. Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent behavioral health issues is essential. Experience with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma-and stressor-related disorders is expected. Must be adept in medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, and physical hold protocols. Special equipment used includes a Humane Wrap and Hover Jack for patient transport. The daily census ranges from 18-20 patients. The unit primarily cares for children and adolescents aged 6-17 years old. Patients typically present with acute crisis behaviors, including dysregulation and suicidal ideation. Interdisciplinary support includes phlebotomy, social services, and pharmacy.
