Human Resources Assistant (OA)

Human Resources Assistant

The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Assistant in their Administrative Division to assist with clerical and technical support essential to the effective operations of the District's HR Management program. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Providing a wide array of HR assistance and guidance to employees and applicants, while exercising clear, concise communication skills and professional tact in all communications;
  • Assisting with the recruitment process to include the development and posting of job announcements, evaluating qualifications of candidates; scheduling interviews, and corresponding with applicants and hiring managers;
  • Initiating and processing pre-employment background investigations;
  • Overseeing the performance management and appraisal process;
  • Preparing and processing personnel actions, determining appropriate nature of action, regulatory authority, and adhering to prescribed guidelines and regulations;
  • Maintaining personnel files for employees in the electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) system;
  • Managing the District's training program and identifying employees' training needs;
  • Participating in the classification or re-certification of positions; and
  • Composing a variety of written documents utilizing various types of office automation software.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
