Staff Accountant

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant will handle day-to-day accounting and financial administration for multiple restaurant locations. This role is responsible for daily sales auditing, invoice processing, accounts payable, vendor statement reconciliations, and supporting period-end financial closes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands restaurant operations, and possesses strong organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Sales Audit & Cash Reconciliation:

Reconcile daily sales reports, cash deposits, credit card processing, and third-party delivery platforms (e.g., DoorDash, EZ Caterer) for each restaurant location.

Research and resolve sales or payment discrepancies with location managers.

Banking & Reconciliations:

Track and reconcile petty cash transactions, safe counts, and store bank accounts.

Assist in monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

Payroll Support:

Assist with semi-monthly/weekly payroll processing by verifying hours, tip allocations, and employee data across locations.

Reconcile tip pools and house tips against daily POS reports.

Administrative & Period-End Support:

Maintain organized vendor files and store-level accounting records.

Assist the Accounting Manager/Controller with period-end journal entries, inventory audits, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.

Respond to store manager inquiries regarding budget allocations and invoice statuses.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: 2+ years of accounting clerk or general bookkeeping experience. Experience in restaurant, retail, or multi-unit operations is required.

Education: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred (or equivalent practical experience).

Software Proficiency:

Proficiency with restaurant management software (Restaurant365, Toast,)

Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data sorting, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).

Skills:

Strong understanding of food/beverage cost accounting concepts.

Exceptional attention to detail and high numerical accuracy.

Ability to manage tight deadlines across multiple entities simultaneously.

Clear verbal and written communication skills for dealing with vendors and store management.
