Controls Engineer – Food & Beverage Systems Integration
Location: Rochester, NY
Salary: Up to $120,000 per year
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join a growing systems integrator specializing in automation solutions for the food and beverage industry.
You will be responsible for developing, programming, testing, and commissioning control systems, working closely with engineering teams and customers to deliver reliable automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Develop and configure HMI systems.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and control documentation.
- Design, test, troubleshoot, and commission industrial control systems.
- Participate in FATs, SATs, and customer site commissioning.
- Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and control system issues.
- Work with electrical, mechanical, and project engineering teams.
- Provide technical support to customers throughout project delivery.
- Travel to customer sites approximately 20% of the time.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in controls engineering, automation, or industrial systems integration.
- Strong Allen-Bradley PLC programming experience.
- Experience with HMI development and configuration.
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and electrical/control drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and customer-facing skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20%.
Nice to Have
- Food & beverage industry experience.
- Rockwell Studio 5000 / FactoryTalk View experience.
- SCADA, instrumentation, industrial networking, or VFD experience.
- Experience with process control and P&IDs.
- Previous experience working for a systems integrator.
