HR Coordinator - School of Nursing The School of Nursing seeks to fill a part‑time (30 hours per week) temporary, fixed‑term position of HR Coordinator that will provide support for the School of Nursing. The position is projected to end on August 31, 2028 and may be renewed based on funding, performance, and school needs. Key Responsibilities Oversee all departmental HR processes that support the full employment lifecycle of student employees, casual employees, contingent workers, and affiliated workers with courtesy appointments. Initiate onboarding, separations, transfers, terminations, reclassifications, additional/sporadic jobs and route all job changes through Workday. For student employees, monitor eligibility and respond to questions related to tuition/benefits concerning insurance, tuition waivers or exemptions. Coordinate approval of tuition‑reduction benefits for graduate students in Financial Resources Management Services (FRMS). Review incoming HR questions and respond to requests from faculty, staff, and student employees professionally and in a timely manner. Track and enter HR transaction data into Excel spreadsheets, Workday, and other internal UT Austin systems. Assist with record‑keeping, filing, and document retention while protecting confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information. Cross‑train and provide backup assistance for other staff on the HR team. Liaise with central Human Resources, Payroll Services, Workday Operational Support, Academic Personnel Services, and other university offices. Ensure compliance and consistency with all policies and procedures specific to HR needs within the department. Attend and participate in monthly team meetings, workshops, and other trainings as appropriate. Comply with all federal, state, and university laws and policies. Perform other tasks as assigned in support of Human Resources functions for the School of Nursing. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Two years of experience in a human resources function. Ability to work in a team environment with a high degree of autonomy on multiple projects. Ability to involve team members in solving issues and making decisions. Ability to communicate effectively, embrace change, and maintain a high level of customer service. Ability to manage a high volume of work assignments under dynamic circumstances while maintaining accuracy and discretion. Work experience with conflict management, decision making, critical thinking, and relationship management. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Five or more years of experience. Prior experience in a higher‑education setting working closely with faculty, staff, and students. Competencies Detail‑oriented with excellent organization skills. Problem‑solving ability. Strong written and oral communication skills. Adherence to confidentiality in the workplace. Resourcefulness, integrity, self‑motivation, and willingness to accomplish workload in a timely fashion. Ability to anticipate departmental needs proactively and collaborate to develop systems that streamline processes. Strong Excel, data tracking, and organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Workday, FRMS, *DEFINE, and University of Texas employment policies. Salary Range $45,000 – $56,250 (rate for 30 hours per week). Working Conditions Hybrid work schedule and remote eligible depending on the candidate. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
