Maintenance Technician

Gernaat Dairy is looking to hire a full-time Maintenance Technician in Falmouth, MI (about 17 miles east of Cadillac, MI) responsible for inspecting, servicing and maintaining parlors, barns and sand separation systems. Keeping equipment operating at peak performance and efficiency. We are a family-owned, 3,000-head dairy. We pride ourselves on operating a progressive dairy farm offering high quality milk to our customers. Our team prides itself on working together to be a solid, efficient, positive, and well-organized team. We offer acompetitive hourly wage based on experience along with health insurance and paid time off. The schedule will be Monday - Friday with additional days as needed and a monthly rotational on call schedule. Must be capable of setting priorities and working under pressure. Must be able to multi-task and work productively. Must be able to work independently and work well as a team. Must have an open mind with a positive attitude. Technical knowledge:Strong understanding of various dairy systems, mechanical equipment, and electrical systems. Key Responsibilities Parlors: General repair and maintenance. Daily walk through to ensure equipment is working properly. Monitor chemical usage and inventory. Barns: Maintenance and repairs on alley scrapers. Structural and equipment repairs. General welding repairs. Sand separation systems: Daily performance monitoring. Maintenance and repairs. Move sand piles daily to allow for drying.
