The role will tackle a diverse set of business challenges and initiatives, often requiring partnership across Sales Enablement, Sales and Account Development, and other teams across the organization.This individual will serve as a versatile problem solver and internal consultant for the Performance & Insights team—bringing structure to ambiguous challenges, developing clear plans, coordinating stakeholders, and driving work from initial problem definition through execution.Because the nature of special projects will evolve with the needs of the business, the successful candidate will be intellectually curious, highly adaptable, and comfortable quickly getting up to speed on unfamiliar topics. They will combine strong strategic thinking and analytical judgment with hands-on project leadership and a bias toward action.ResponsibilitiesLead high-priority special projects from problem definition through execution, establishing clear objectives, workplans, milestones, owners, and measures of success.Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous business challenges by identifying key questions, synthesizing information, evaluating options, and developing actionable recommendations.Drive cross-functional workstreams and maintain momentum by proactively identifying risks and dependencies, resolving roadblocks, and ensuring stakeholders remain aligned on priorities and next steps.Use data and business insights to understand problems, evaluate opportunities, and inform recommendations.Develop clear, compelling executive-level presentations that synthesize complex information into key insights, decisions, and actions.Design and document processes, workflows, and operating approaches that improve organizational effectiveness and execution.Build trusted relationships across Performance & Insights, Sales Enablement, Sales and Account Development, and partner teams, influencing outcomes without direct authority.Establish effective project governance and communication, ensuring stakeholders have clear visibility into progress, decisions, risks, and required actions.Identify opportunities to simplify and improve how the team works, including thoughtfully leveraging generative AI and emerging tools to improve productivity and effectiveness.Adapt quickly as priorities evolve and take ownership of new, high-impact challenges as they emerge.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:5+ years of experience in project/program management, consulting, strategy, business transformation, sales enablement, or related fields.Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous challenges.Excellent project management skills, including the ability to translate objectives into actionable plans, manage dependencies and risks, and drive work through completion.Strong analytical skills and comfort working with business data to identify trends, evaluate questions, and support decision-making.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop executive-ready presentations and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships, influence without authority, and work effectively across teams and organizational boundaries.Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in management consulting, internal consulting, strategy, transformation, or a similar environment.Experience supporting Sales, Account Development, Sales Enablement, or other commercial organizations.Experience designing or improving business processes, operating models, or governance structures.Demonstrated experience managing workstreams spanning multiple functions, teams, or geographies.Demonstrated ability to leverage generative AI and other emerging technologies to improve problem solving, productivity, communication, or project execution.Advanced degree or relevant professional certification is a plus.Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
