Job Description
Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Profession: Registered Nurse

Specialty: ER/Medsurg Swing RN

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 12H Days, Nights D/N Rotate

Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ER and previous Medsurg experience required

License: Valid nursing license required

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS (preferred)

Must-Have:
- 2 years ER experience
- Previous Medsurg experience


Description:
The department operates as a Trauma Level IV facility.
The unit has 4 beds and 2 trauma bays.
No separate Fast Track is available.
ER holds are intermixed within the ER.
Separate Psych/seclusion rooms are available.
Security is not in-house 24/7.
On average, the ER treats around 10 patients per day.
An ED physician is generally staffed in the ER.
A Charge Nurse is present on each shift and takes patients.
Nurse aids, EMTs, and Patient Sitters are on call.
Respiratory therapy is not available in the ER 24/7.
RNs are required to troubleshoot equipment, including vents and CPAPs.
RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips.
Lab draws are completed by lab staff.
Self-scheduling is not permitted; D/N rotation is required.
Weekend work is required every other week.
Holiday work is expected if it falls within the scheduled shifts.
There is no call or standby requirement.
RNs may float to Med/surg and Swing bed on the same unit.
Scrub color is navy blue.
The charting system used is Point Click Care (PCC).
