Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, with self-scheduling available to some degree and schedules posted 30-45 days in advance. Weekend requirement is every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, holiday rotation with permanent staff, and call or standby required.

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $66 - $67.20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care on a 45-bed combined adult Med/Surg and pediatric Med/Surg telemetry unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor telemetry patients with confidence
• Administer medications and titrate drips including Heparin and Protonix
• Care for a diverse patient mix including COPD, post-op, GI bleeds, OBGYN surgeries, ortho, sepsis, altered mental status, chest pain rule-outs, stroke, cellulitis, and ETOH withdrawal
• Collaborate with an onsite hospitalist team and a charge nurse team lead to keep care moving smoothly
• Educate patients and families while helping them navigate a fast-paced unit with an average length of stay of 3 days
• Float to telemetry or OB when you want to and have the experience to do so

Qualifications

• Active RN license with the ability to submit your license for consideration
• 2 to 3 years of experience in Med/Surg or a related specialty
• Telemetry experience is a must-have for this role
• BLS certification required
• ACLS (AHA) certificate required
• PALS certification preferred, along with pediatric experience
• BSN is not required, so your experience speaks for itself
• Willingness to support call and standby needs

Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients: medsurg patients, COPD, post-op, GI bleeds, OBGYN surgeries, ortho, Sepsis, Altered Mental Status, CP r/o, Stroke, Cellulitis, ETOH Withdrawal

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment skills
• Confident medication administration
• Telemetry monitoring know-how
• IV drip titration, especially Heparin
• Comfort with CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow respiratory equipment
• Familiarity with Cerner charting is a plus
• Ability to thrive in a quick-moving unit with a 1 to 5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Team-first mindset, since nurse aids support the unit during most hours
