Substance Use Counselor

Substance Use Counselor Location: Urbandale Overview At Groups, we know recovery is possible - and no one should have to do it alone. As a Counselor, you'll lead dynamic group therapy sessions and be a vital part of our member-centered care teams. You'll work in a mission-driven environment where compassion, integrity, and human connection drive real transformation. Schedule: Monday - Thursday 9am-7pm EST Compensation: $57,000 - $68,000, dependent on licensure, tenure, and experience. Responsibilities Lead 3-4 one-hour group therapy sessions per day using a structured, evidence-based curriculum. Facilitate group discussions using a "plug and play" approach from approved modalities to meet members where they are within the guardrails of our clinical framework. Collaborate with prescribers, care navigators, and recovery coaches. Monitor member progress and document outcomes. Support a positive, recovery-oriented environment for members. Engage in local community outreach to promote Groups' mission. Qualifications An active Iowa independently licensed behavioral health license or certification and associate level status with ability and willingness to obtain licensure reciprocity in other states including but not limited to: Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Certified Alcohol Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) Minimum two years’ leading groups in a SUD setting. High comfort level with Technology: EMR, Telehealth software, Google products (Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets/Drive), mobile apps, etc. Compassion, collaboration, commitment to quality care, and an investment in member success. Ability to work 2-3 evenings per week up to 9pm as needed.
