Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions and write modifications in multiple system‑software languages. Consult customers, perform data gathering and site assessments, provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades or enhancements. Manage workload, report problems or changes to management promptly, and coordinate with branch and service managers and subcontractors. Provide sketches for engineering corrections, bid proposals, and engineering drawings. Install and modify software and graphics. Communicate with customers to ensure high satisfaction and keep them informed on service status, outstanding issues and system enhancements. Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards, provide safety leadership and instruction. Train customers in system operation and deliver manuals and documentation. Mentor and coach controls and service technicians for certification and skill development. Compile job documentation such as certificates of completion, training forms and punch lists. Self‑study and obtain required certifications, and keep technical proficiency current. Assist with design, configuration, drafting of flow diagrams, sequences, bills of materials, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Develop and test software programs to meet project requirements. Compile and complete project as‑built and close‑out documentation. Coordinate and create drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, ordering, tracking and loading of system controllers. Validate complete system functionality, troubleshoot with subcontractors and provide field change information for as‑built drawings. Keep management and project teams informed of job progress and issues. Assist in site‑specific training for owners/operators of building control systems. Participate in release meetings with project field teams. Provide recommendations, solutions and quotes for efficiency upgrades and upselling opportunities. What we look for Committed North America Branch team member willing to learn and responsible for system troubleshooting, repair and aftermarket services. Minimum six (6) years commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including buildings, chillers and plants. Vocational school graduate or associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years of experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems. Demonstrated ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment. Effective communication skills for representing Johnson Controls at customer sites. Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Excellent writing skills and understanding of programs and software applications. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and related subsystems. Hiring hourly range: $29.13–$41.20. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. We may use technology assisted tools, including AI, to aid in candidate evaluation.
