Grant Accountant

Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Grant Accountant to join their client's team in California. This position offers the opportunity to work with a well-established organization in the Fresno area, providing financial administration of grants and contracts while ensuring compliance with funding requirements. The role involves supporting project teams and managing post-award accounting activities from award setup through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain grant and contract accounts.
• Prepare, review, and submit invoices, financial reports, and reimbursement requests to funding agencies.
• Monitor grant and contract expenditures to ensure compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and organizational guidelines.
• Review and approve purchase requisitions, payment requests, and payroll transactions for funding availability and budget compliance.
• Process journal entries, account adjustments, and financial reconciliations.
• Provide guidance and customer support to project managers, administrative staff, and funding agencies regarding budgets, account balances, reporting requirements, and allowable costs.
• Monitor reporting deadlines and ensure all financial deliverables are submitted accurately and on time.
• Assist with subcontract monitoring, budget revisions, and account management.
• Coordinate grant and contract closeout activities, including final reporting and collection of outstanding receivables.
• Support internal and external audits and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Participate in training opportunities and stay informed on applicable funding regulations and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance.
• Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, grants administration, or financial support experience.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations and contract compliance preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Ability to learn and utilize financial and accounting systems.
• Strong customer service mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Valid driver's license may be required.
