House Supervisor

The House Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of Mary’s Place by the Sea and maintaining a warm and welcoming environment. The House Supervisor supports the overall operations of Mary’s Place including guest experience during retreats, scheduling and management of volunteers, communicating maintenance needs to the Director of Operations, and ensuring the house remains organized and orderly. Job Responsibilities Develop, implement and maintain a structured volunteer training and coaching process to ensure consistency in the volunteer experience. Actively work to recruit new volunteers, hold interviews for prospective candidates, onboard and provide ongoing support to all volunteers. Responsible for the scheduling of all in house volunteers and ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts. Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers regarding shift assignments, schedule changes, and availability. Foster strong relationships with volunteers through consistent communication, engagement and recognition to encourage long-term involvement. Maintain updated and accurate volunteer reports for month end metrics. Guests Warmly welcome guests upon arrival with a friendly and inviting demeanor setting a positive tone for their retreat experience. Facilitate a seamless check-in experience for guests, ensuring their comfort with accommodations, acquainting them with retreat guidelines and offering the guests a space to begin connecting with each other. Ensure all guest paperwork is accurately completed and organized for practitioners before the start of services. Remain available to guests throughout the day; offering assistance as needed, monitoring guest’s interactions to encourage group cohesion, and ensuring guests get to their scheduled services on time. Address any questions, concerns, or requests raised by guests or volunteers promptly and professionally. Ensure all guest rooms and service rooms are properly prepared to receive guests at arrival through their stay. General Conduct weekly walkthroughs of the entire house, identify any maintenance needs and coordinate with the cleaning team to ensure high standards of cleanliness. Communicate effectively with the team regarding any needed house maintenance and repairs, shopping lists and supplies. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the guest and volunteer experience and contribute to the advancement of the organization's mission. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills Computer proficiency, including but not limited to email, Google Suite, Word, and Excel Ability to work well under pressure with many interruptions Ability to effectively meet multiple deadlines Education and Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in hospitality, volunteer coordination, social work, guest services, or a related field preferred Bachelor’s Degree preferred Understanding of relevant issues and challenges prevalent within the cancer community This position operates in an environment with moderate noise. Sitting, standing and walking around the house is required. This position requires speaking and listening. Frequent typing and writing is customary. Bending and twisting could occur. The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at certain times. No travel is expected for this position, but business needs may change this circumstance.
