Property Accountant – Real Estate
San Mateo, CA | Hybrid Schedule
$80,000–$100,000

We are partnering with a highly respected large real estate company in the Bay Area that is looking to add a Property Accountant to its growing accounting team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong accounting experience who wants to work with a stable organization, gain exposure to a diverse real estate portfolio, and be part of a collaborative team where your work has a meaningful impact.

In this role, you will manage the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of properties and partnerships while working closely with Property Management, Asset Management, and other internal teams.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Manage monthly close and financial reporting for an assigned property portfolio
2. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
3. Review financial statements and investigate discrepancies
4. Reconcile intercompany and related-party transactions
5. Assist with partnership accounting and review loan and regulatory agreements
6. Prepare audit schedules and work directly with external auditors
7. Support annual financial statement audits and tax filings
8. Review work prepared by outsourced accounting teams
9. Prepare financial analysis and ad hoc reporting for management
10. Help communicate financial results across the organization

What We’re Looking For:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
2. 2+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience
3. Strong knowledge of GAAP
4. Property accounting or real estate accounting experience preferred
5. Partnership accounting experience is a plus
6. Experience with RealPage, OneSite, or similar property accounting systems is highly desirable
7. Strong Excel skills
8. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
9. Strong communication and organizational abilities
