Occupational Medicine Medical AssistantThe Occupational Medicine Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)DOT Certified Specimen Collector within 6 months - Department of Transportation (DOT)Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) within 6 months - Department of Transportation (DOT)EducationHigh School Diploma or GED (Required)Work ExperiencePrevious healthcare or clinical experience preferred.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff with patient examinations and treatments.Maintain patient care environments and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.Accurately measure and record height, weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.Complete medication reconciliation and update patient records.Assist providers with procedures and treatments within scope of practice.Perform audiometry, spirometry, respiratory mask fit testing, EKGs, and phlebotomy.Perform ear irrigations and dressing changes.Conduct drug and alcohol testing in accordance with state and federal guidelines.Ensure complete and accurate documentation of patient care.Provide support to nursing staff as needed.Order, receive, store, and maintain clinical supplies.Clean and stock exam and procedure rooms.Maintain established par levels of supplies.Monitor and maintain expiration logs for supplies and medications.Discover the job, the career, the purpose you were meant for.
