Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHayden Pen Medical Center is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to continue utilizing and developing a well-rounded skillset across patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures. We are seeking dependable, motivated candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask efficiently, anticipate team needs, communicate professionally, and take pride in delivering exceptional support throughout every stage of the patient visit.In this position, you will take an active role in:Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflowsAssisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistryProviding safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural carePreparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and proceduresMonitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary teamPerforming dental prophylaxis and dental radiographyMaintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentationReviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionatelyBuilding positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive serviceMaintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spacesSchedule and compensation:Compensation: $19 - $22 per hour, for each hour workedThis is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Saturday.Full-time Benefits Package*:Bonus package: Up to $500 depending on experienceHealth package: Medical, dental, and vision insuranceLife insurance and disabilityEmployee Assistance Program401k with company matchPaid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable lawPersonal pet discountUniform allowance*Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state lawMinimum qualifications and skill set:3+ years of veterinary assistant preferredProficiency in the following skills:Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperamentsKnowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principlesAbility to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient proceduresExperience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferredAbility to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentationStrong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocolsAbility to prioritize tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational and time management skillsCompassionate, professional communication with clients and team membersAbility to work collaboratively within a team environmentDependable attendance and strong work ethicPhysical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workdayCommitment to exceptional patient care and client serviceAbout us:At Hayden Pet Medical Center in Hayden, ID we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care for our patients.
