The Registered Nurse functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the coordination (to include ongoing assessment, planning, delivery & evaluation) of nursing care for residents living in a home at JIRDC. This care includes administration of medications/treatments, assessment of outcomes & nursing treatment as indicated. The selected candidate must successfully complete the DHHS medication exam and have the ability to independently administer medications & treatments in a timely, accurate manner following the 6 rights. Selected candidates must also successfully become certified in CPR & NCVIF.

Salary Range: $61,177.00 - $91,767.00

Recruitment Range: $70,000.00 - $88,348.00

A Sign-on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Candidates who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Ability to independently plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
• Knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of those medications.
• Ability to communicate information in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, written, or by demonstration.
• Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.

Must be able to successfully perform all functions applicable to nursing on the ADA checklist for all nursing positions at JIRDC.

The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, North Carolina is an ICF certified facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state. Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus:

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
• The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
• DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
