Account Payable Manager

About the Role: Sylvan Learning is looking for a detail-driven and motivated Accounts Payable Manager to join our team in Chicago, IL! In this key financial role, you'll oversee the full accounts payable function, helping ensure our operations run smoothly so we can stay focused on what matters most — empowering students to reach their potential. Responsibilities: Manage and oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing and payment disbursements Supervise and mentor AP team members, providing guidance and performance feedback Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining strong vendor relationships Reconcile AP ledgers, statements, and month-end close activities Monitor and enforce internal controls and AP policies and procedures Collaborate with finance, procurement, and operations teams to streamline workflows Prepare and analyze AP reports, aging schedules, and cash flow forecasts Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including 1099 reporting Requirements: 3+ years of accounts payable experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role Strong knowledge of AP processes, general ledger accounting, and financial controls Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred About Us: Sylvan Learning has been a trusted leader in supplemental education for over 40 years, helping millions of students build confidence and achieve academic success.
