Advanced Practice Provider (NP) - Gastroenterology Services

Location: Davenport, Iowa

The Inpatient Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive care to patients admitted to the hospital, working closely with GI Hospitalists and Gastroenterologists. This position enhances the inpatient GI service through patient evaluations, care coordination, procedural assistance, and management of gastrointestinal conditions, all while prioritizing high-quality, patient-focused care.

• Perform daily rounds to assess hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal issues.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians to create and execute treatment plans.
• Oversee admissions, consultations, progress notes, and discharge processes.
• Assist physicians during GI procedures as needed.
• Analyze diagnostic tests, lab results, and imaging studies.
• Coordinate care with hospitalists, nursing teams, specialists, and support services.
• Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
• Ensure seamless transitions of care and arrange outpatient follow-up appointments.
• Engage in quality improvement projects and contribute to service line objectives.

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Board certification or eligibility as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Experience in gastroenterology is preferred; however, new graduates with robust inpatient training will be considered.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Strong clinical judgment and procedural expertise.

• Involves patient rounding, consultation management, procedural support, and coordination of outpatient follow-up care.
