Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner

Coverage Needed

• Start Date: ASAP
• End Date: Ongoing
• Schedule: Monday-Friday clinic days and one weekend per month
  • Full Time; 20-22 shifts per month
• Call: 1:3 during the day (8a-5p); 1:4 at night (5p-8a); 1:4 weekends

Clinical Details

• EMR System: Cerner (transitioning to EPIC on 9/26/2026)
• Practice Settings: Inpatient Behavioral Health; Hospital Consults
• Patients Per Day: 10-15
• Appointment Length: average 3-5 days
• Rounding Patients: Adults and adolescents (ages 8-17)
• Average daily census 14 adults and 4 adolescents
• Support Staff: 3 physicians; 7 APPs; psychiatrists supervise and co-sign; nursing ratio 1:5; behavioral health techs 1:13; recreational therapists, social workers, nurse, discharge planners
  • Nursing students, OT students, and Family Medicine residents are on the unit
• Beds: 36 (28 adult; 8 adolescent)
  • No exam rooms; patients are seen in their rooms
• Trauma Level: Level III
• Medical Imaging, Lab, Pharmacy
• Call: 1:3 during the day (8a-5p) which consists of taking calls from1st location's EDs for admissions and seeing consults (average of 2 per day) at 2nd location
• Patient Population/Demographics: BH patients that require inpatient hospitalization
• Disorders Treated: Psychotic Disorders, Substance-Related Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders, Delirium, Dementia, and Cognitive Disorders, Life Cycle and Adjustment Disorders, Childhood Disorders that Persist into Adolescent and Adulthood, Somatoform and Factitious Disorders
• Required Duties: Diagnose, Performing Admission Histories and Psychiatric Assessments, Performing Physicals, Performing Rounds, Ordering and Interpreting Diagnostic Studies, Prescribing Medications, Managing Ongoing Care Through Consultation with the Psychiatrist, Ordering Referrals, Administrative Duties, Coordination of Care, Addiction Education/Management
