ECE Member Success and Business Specialist

Job Description
Job Description
About This Role
We’re growing something new in Montgomery County, and we’re looking for the right person to help build it with us.
The Montgomery County Shared Resources Collaborative (MC SRC) is a membership program built for child care providers, by people who understand their world. We’re growing fast, and we need someone who thrives in that environment: someone who can hold a big portfolio with one hand, coach a small business owner through a hard conversation with the other and genuinely enjoy figuring out systems and structures that don’t exist yet.
The ECE Member Success & Business Specialist is a new position, and the person who takes it will have real input into what it becomes. You’ll be working with a tight, high-trust team that moves fast and cares deeply about the providers we serve. We’re looking for someone entrepreneurial and flexible. Someone with a growth mindset who sees an evolving role as an opportunity.
If you’ve been looking for a place where your ideas matter, your work is visible, and the mission is real: this is it.
About the OpportunityThe SRC is at an inflection point. We have an established membership base, a strong coaching model, and real momentum — and we’re about to scale. The Member Success Specialist & Business Coach is the role that makes that scaling possible.
Here’s how the role breaks down today. You’ll manage relationships with up to 100 Basic tier members — not one-on-one coaching, but a structured, high-touch portfolio that keeps members engaged and connected to what the SRC offers. You’ll carry a smaller caseload of 5–10 Premium members for deeper 1:1 business coaching. You’ll co-facilitate group coaching sessions and Oasis peer groups. And you’ll keep the program running behind the scenes: onboarding, operations, portal, and vendor relationships.
What this role becomes is partly up to you. We’ve designed it with real headroom — room to take on more training delivery, more partnership work, more facilitation as you grow into it. We expect this role to evolve significantly over the first year, and we’re hiring someone who’s energized by that prospect.
You’ll report to our Senior Manager and work closely with our bilingual English and Spanish Business Coach. Language skills are an asset (Spanish or Amharic preferred). You’ll bring genuine curiosity about early childhood education and the business challenges providers face.
What You'll Do What You’ll DoOwn the Basic Tier Member Experience (~15–20% of your time)This is the highest-volume part of the role, and the part that requires the most systems-thinking. Up to 100 Basic tier members get regular, light-touch support from you. The goal is that every member feels seen and connected, and that they get the most of their membership – feeling like it was more than worth it to join.
- Manage monthly touchpoints for a large Basic tier portfolio through templated check-ins, batched communications, and efficient follow-up systems you help build
- Serve as the primary point of contact for member questions and issues, making sure no one falls through the cracks
- Track member engagement and flag early signs of disengagement or unmet need
- Connect members to the right SRC resources, discounts, and tools at the right moments
- Own the member onboarding experience from welcome email to first Oasis peer group: welcome and portal access, baseline and goal-setting, and putting the SRC to work for their business
- Ensure every new member understands what’s available to them and knows how to use it
- Continuously improve the onboarding experience based on what you’re hearing from members
You will handle a business coaching caseload of 5–10 members.
- Deliver monthly 1:1 coaching sessions focused on business health, financial sustainability, and operations
- Help providers understand their cost per child, cash flow, and business goals in culturally responsive and plain language
- Track member progress, flag risks, and adapt your approach to what each provider actually needs
You’ll start as a co-facilitator and grow into the primary facilitator for 2–3 group coaching sessions per month. You will also co-facilitate Oasis peer groups.
- Co-facilitate monthly group coaching sessions alongside our Senior Manager; take primary facilitation responsibility by month 4–6
- Co-facilitate Oasis peer groups alongside our Senior Manager or bilingual Business Coach
- Support training delivery: logistics and coordination to start, co-facilitation and eventual independent delivery as you grow into it
- Feed what you’re hearing in 1:1 coaching back into session design
Holding the operational layer is the foundation that allows every member, every coach, and every program to thrive. You will:
- Manage internal logistics, member records, portal resources, and vendor discount relationships
- Build and maintain the systems that make Basic tier engagement scalable — templates, workflows, and communication cadences
- Support our Senior Manager in keeping partnership relationships warm: follow-up, scheduling, helping key relationships move forward
- Contribute to the tools and templates that make the SRC more valuable for every member
We’ve built this role with real headroom — roughly 30–40% of your capacity is intentionally available for growth. Here’s what we expect that to look like as the SRC scales and you find your strengths:
Room to grow into
- Training delivery: starting with logistics and co-facilitation, with a clear path to designing and leading your own sessions
- Expanded coaching: Premium caseload grows
- Partnership support: taking ownership of vendor and discount relationships, eventually handling warm external contacts independently
- Program design: bringing your member relationships into conversations about what the SRC offers and how
- Whatever you bring: if you have a skill or interest that makes the program better, we want to hear about it
We expect this role to look significantly different in year two than it does on day one. We’re hiring for the person who can do the foundational work well and grow into something bigger — not just someone to fill a fixed box.
What Success Looks LikeSuccess here looks like100 Basic tier members who feel connected to the SRC — not like they signed up and never heard from anyone. It looks like a handful of Premium members who can point to real changes in their business because of their coaching relationship with you. It looks like group sessions that run smoothly. And it looks like a program that hums along day-to-day because you’ve built the systems and relationships that make that possible.
Requirements What We’re Looking ForWe’re not looking for someone who checks every box — we’re looking for someone who is genuinely right for this role and this moment. Here’s what that looks like:
Experience- 3–5 years in small business advising, coaching, community development, member success, social services, or nonprofit program coordination, with a strong preference for experience in the ECE world
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume relationship portfolio at quality
- Experience coaching individuals on practical business topics such as budgeting, cash flow, operations, in a way that’s accessible
- Experience facilitating group learning, peer cohorts, workshops, or similar settings
- A natural systems-builder: when something is going to happen again, you figure out how to make it easier the next time
- Strong organizational skills: able to manage a varied caseload, track outcomes, and stay on top of logistics without close supervision
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Amharic strongly preferred.
- Comfortable with Google Suite, project management tools, and CRM or member management systems; familiarity with Brightwheel, Playground, or similar CCMS a plus
- Familiarity with grant writing or funder reporting is a genuine plus
- Generally tech-comfortable: you pick up new platforms quickly, can update text on a website, and approach tools, whether a CRM, a website builder, or something you've never seen before, with curiosity
- Entrepreneurial: you see an early-stage, growing program and think “what can I build here?”
- Flexible: you can pivot when priorities shift, hold ambiguity without anxiety, and help build the plane while flying it
- Growth-oriented: you actively seek feedback, want to develop as a coach and facilitator, and see this role as a launching pad, not a destination
- Relational: you make people feel heard and capable: providers, colleagues, and partners alike
- Mission-connected: you have genuine belief that child care providers deserve better business support, and the energy to show up for them every day
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Amharic strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Brightwheel, Playground, or similar CCMS a plus
- Health Insurance
- Dental Insurance
- Vision Insurance
- Paid Leave
- Sick Leave
- Retirement Plan
- Professional Development
