Position Overview Job No: 557635 | Work Type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer | Location: Pomona | Department: Sociology | College: College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences | Term: Part‑time lecturer positions available throughout the academic year Responsibilities Teach assigned introductory, theory, or methods courses in the Sociological curriculum. Provide weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Prepare lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with course objectives. Evaluate student work and provide timely feedback. Participate in department meetings and contribute to effective teaching and student support. Required Qualifications Master’s degree (MA) in Sociology, Criminology, or a related discipline directly relevant to the curriculum. MA if applying to teach Social Work courses. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, or a related discipline. MSW, LCSW, DSW, or Ph.D. in Social Work for social work courses. Prior college or university teaching experience with evidence of strong teaching effectiveness. Salary and Benefits Initial appointment is for one semester, prorated to units worked. Salary ranges up to $6,221 per month (rank dependent). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, tuition assistance, and other standard CSU compensation packages.
