Job Description and Duties

The Information Technology Specialist II, under the direction of the Enterprise Network Operation Services Manager, serves as a Senior Network Engineer.  The position's duties and activities are performed primarily within the System Engineering technical domain.  The incumbent provides technical services in support of DWR's Business Network.  The position is responsible for network design, installation, testing, monitoring, maintenance, and operations of all network components within the Department's various Local Area Networks and Wide Area Network. In addition, the incumbent serves as a project technical lead on enterprise network projects, providing technical expertise and technical leadership. The incumbent is also responsible for providing critical IT network support and services in support of the Department’s programs, strategic goals, and business objectives.   Incumbent must adhere to all Departmental IT Governance Standards and IT Policies set by the Department’s Manager of the Division of Technology Services.

The ideal candidate will possess: (1) In-depth expertise in routing and switching, Juniper knowledge is a plus; (2)  Network topology and architecture knowledge; (3) Palo Alto Networks Firewalls experience; (4) experience with implementing and supporting disaster recovery solutions for business continuity; (5) Ability to manage projects independently and with a team; (6) skills to independently troubleshoot and provide support services; (7) ability to work with other infrastructure teams to resolve production breaks and engineer new solutions; (8) a history of preparing sustainable documentation; (9) strong organizational, analytical and deductive reasoning skills; (10) a passion for process improvement, problem solving and providing excellent customer service.
