Job Summary Geisinger is offering outpatient Medical Assistant positions with a sign‑on bonus of up to $3,000 for eligible candidates who are Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistants (RMA). The role is based in community outpatient clinics and provides a progressive learning environment while delivering high‑quality care. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting. Prepare patients, collect and review pertinent information, perform technical duties, and document in the electronic medical record. Assist patients during visit preparations, ensuring safety and privacy. Perform direct patient care tasks such as EKGs, wound dressings, and support during minor surgical procedures and ancillary examinations. Administer medications according to policy and procedure, excluding intravenous medications. Conduct patient tests and treatments per provider order, complete associated paperwork accurately and efficiently. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, and assist with laboratory functions under laboratory supervision. Handle reception and clerical duties, including patient scheduling, filing reports, processing billing inquiries, collecting co‑payments, and managing referral and pre‑authorization documentation. Maintain and document a complete and accurate medical record using the electronic medical record and scheduling system. Support patient care by facilitating appointments, prioritizing communications to the provider, and responding to patient questions and requests. Reinforce patient education as directed by the provider. Inventory medical/surgical supplies and pharmaceuticals (non‑controlled substances only) to ensure adequate supply levels and compliance with expiration dates. Prepare and clean instruments, comply with sterilization, disinfection, and infection prevention protocols. Participate actively in patient safety and quality improvement programs. Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required. Certification from one of the following governing associations required: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA. Graduate of an accredited 1‑year certificate or 2‑year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred. Compensation & Incentives Certified Medical Assistants qualify for a $3,000 sign‑on bonus paid over two years. Non‑certified Medical Assistants qualify for a $1,500 sign‑on bonus paid over one year.
