Job Summary
The Accounting Clerk I - Cashier's Office reports to the Director of Finance. The Accounting Clerk I has frequent contact with students and the general public. The Accounting Clerk I performs varied clerical, bookkeeping, and cash-handling duties associated with all phases of the Cashier's Office. Work involves the exercising of independent judgment within established guidelines for the department with supervision. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Duties/Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supplemental Information KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to operate microcomputers or computer systems in addition to the standard office equipment. Working knowledge of standard office procedures, bookkeeping theory and practice. Some knowledge of elements of accounting. Skill in arithmetic computation and use of adding, computing, and related office machines. Able to perform numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, to understand and put into operation oral and written instructions, to use a scanner, calculator and other standard office equipment. Able to count cash and disburse change to customers. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Manual dexterity to type, operate calculator, personal computer, and various office equipment. Requires constant sitting, walking, and seeing. Requires frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting, and filing. SECURITY SENSITIVE

The Accounting Clerk I performs varied clerical, bookkeeping, and cash-handling duties associated with all phases of the Cashier's Office. Work involves the exercising of independent judgment within established guidelines for the department with supervision. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Duties/Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collect, post, and have custody of cash and fee payments, including tuition, installments, loans, and miscellaneous fees.
- Prepare billing for Third-Party Contracts.
- Maintain extensive records related to installment payments, collection efforts, insufficient funds checks, and Third-Party Billing.
- Enter and release holds on delinquent students' records.
- Reviews and adjusts all residual refunds in Banner.
- Prepares monthly Banner Accounts Receivable reconciliation.
- Review various Billing and Receivable reports.
- Prepare cash receipt vouchers.
- Manage all student collection accounts and reports.
- Reviews Billing Reports for loans and installment.
- Process Faculty/Staff Enrollments.
- Verify cash deposits from various departments.
- Serve as a vital point of contact for providing information to students.
- Scan in documents with document imaging system.
- Assists purchasing as needed.
- Distributes and maintains Sundry Receipt Books for other cash collection sites, such as the Brown Estate and Library.
- Prepare inventory and asset management reconciliations monthly.
- Prepare banking reconciliations monthly for assigned bank codes.
- Responsible for working late registration Saturday(s) as scheduled by the college.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, associate's degree preferred.
- One year of general office experience; PC or mainframe experience preferred.
