Scheduling and Service Planning Coordinator

Job Purpose This position assists with all service planning and schedule development for MTA / RTA service, supports the production and distribution of all required materials for bi-annual service changes, and supports the effective implementation of the Nashville MTA and RTA’s fixed route bus, paratransit, commuter bus and contracted commuter rail service. Job Functions: Analyzes available data to recommend and implement effective routing and scheduling changes Assists with schedule development; prepares and validates schedule data to support distribution of accurate route, schedules, bus stops, and other information to operators and internal and external customers Produces and ensures the accuracy of driver run guides, postings, and headways Prepares materials for biannual operator bids and annual operator vacation bids Assists with the biannual operator bids Coordinates with Operations personnel in implementation and monitoring of services as required Maintains open communication and regular updates to necessary internal departments regarding schedule adjustments and daily operator and equipment requirements as needed to maintain the integrity of the MTA/RTA service Evaluates and manages the quality of ridership data from the Automated Passenger Counter (APC) software Supervises and trains part-time data collection personnel or contractors to support service planning efforts, including day-to-day task assignment, training, and performance reviews; does not include hiring or termination authority. Assists with service analysis and design, individual route analysis, and new service development; analyzes and interprets ridership and other data to inform recommendations Knowledge/Skills Proficiency in Trapeze scheduling software and other scheduling/data systems Data analysis and interpretation, particularly ridership and APC data Strong written and verbal communication for coordinating across internal departments and with operators Ability to train, assign, and oversee support staff Working knowledge of fixed routes, paratransit, commuter bus, and commuter rail service operations Route and service design/analysis capability Strong basis in fixed route transit operations and understanding of fixed route service management or design is required. Knowledge of transit concepts, needs, and challenges as they relate to transit planning. Knowledge of Excel and scheduling software systems including but not limited to Trapeze scheduling platform or ability to develop proficiency in these within a reasonable timeframe is required. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of three years’ experience in transit operations, transit planning, or scheduling/logistics management with evidence of progressive responsibility is preferred. Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, operations management, transportation or related field for study. Additional Requirements Possess a valid Driver’s License Ability to work assigned schedule and work additional hours during special events, holidays, etc. Respond to emergency situations (such as reporting to work early/staying late due to bad weather) Work with little supervision and maintain effective working relationship with all levels of employees Understand and carry out detailed written or verbal instructions Problem solving skills, math skills, and ability to synthesize and analyze data Ability to make oral presentations and compose written documents Read schedules, maps, route guides, detour sheets, etc. and interpret information Meet required deadlines and make effective decisions under stressful conditions Work Content Davidson Transit Organization, Employment unit of WeGo Public Transit, is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
