Credit Analyst

Position Summary This role focuses on credit analysis and internal credit approval processes for lending transactions with Japanese corporate clients. Working closely with Relationship Managers, the individual will evaluate credit risk, assign internal ratings, prepare credit applications, and support ongoing portfolio management. Working closely with Relationship Managers, the individual will evaluate credit risk, assign internal ratings, prepare credit applications, and support ongoing portfolio management. Responsibilities Conduct credit analysis for lending transactions, including financial analysis (BS/PL/CF), industry review, and business risk assessment Assign and maintain internal credit ratings Prepare credit application memos and drive internal approval processes Monitor existing borrowers, including periodic credit reviews and performance analysis Liaise with Head Office and risk teams to explain transactions and report developments Support adherence to internal credit policies and risk management frameworks Provide recommendations to front-office teams, including structuring insights where applicable Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience in a bank or financial institution Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) Business-level proficiency in English (verbal and written) Business-level proficiency in Japanese (native or near-native preferred) Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Experience in corporate banking Understanding of Japanese corporate clients and business culture Familiarity with internal rating models and credit policies Knowledge of the U.S. market and regulatory environment Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or FRM LOCATION New York, NY WORK STYLE Hybrid work (minimum 2 days in office per week) SALARY USD 100,000 for Associate USD 100,000-120,000 for Officer
