This per diem role as an Access Specialist I offers the opportunity to support patients through their entire care journey, ensuring smooth scheduling, registration, and financial processes.
Job Summary As an Access Specialist I, you will provide exceptional customer service by accurately scheduling and registering patients for clinic and hospital services. Your responsibilities include verifying insurance and benefits, obtaining necessary referrals and pre-authorizations, and managing point-of-service collections. You will also handle multi-line phone systems, respond to patient inquiries, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Key Responsibilities- Schedule and register patients using healthcare software, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and referrals for services.
- Conduct registration interviews and perform point-of-service collections including co-pays and balances.
- Manage daily cash drawer operations and generate payment receipts.
- Operate multi-line telephone systems to assist and route calls professionally.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries, ensuring comfort, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Complete daily administrative tasks, including mail processing and workflow improvements.
- Participate in special projects and support team activities.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Healthcare experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare revenue cycle preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is encouraged.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering timely, professional service.
- Proficiency with insurance verification systems and healthcare software.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and various office equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain composure during high-stress situations and adapt to changing workloads.
- Commitment to confidentiality and accurate documentation.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.
