Planner/Buyer

Scope of Position The Planner/Buyer is responsible for proactively purchasing raw materials and components to meet production and customer requirements. Duties include managing the planning and procurement functions, monitoring inventory levels and lead times, developing and maintaining vendor relationships, and working cross‑functionally within the organization. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and is based onsite in Blauvelt, NY. It has no supervisory responsibility. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities Support purchasing activities including preparing purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers, monitoring delivery timelines, and resolving routine purchasing or receiving issues using computerized systems. Procure and plan all materials, products, and services utilized throughout the company. Create spreadsheets to track cost analysis, supplier performance, quality issues, and continuous improvement. Develop processes that improve productivity and streamline material management while increasing team efficiency. Maintain open communication and a strong functional relationship with all suppliers through verbal and written communications. Assist all areas of production with day‑to‑day needs related to part shortages or concerns needed to satisfy customers on time shipments. Maintain knowledge of AERCO's processes, techniques, business strategy, new products, tools, and equipment. Monitor and update all purchase orders to ensure pricing, delivery dates, and quantities are correct and current. Work with Accounting and Receiving on pricing, delivery, and receipt issues; follow through on root cause action items and track them in a detailed spreadsheet. Work with the materials team to set up and maintain the Kanban system for material release to suppliers and flow to the point of use. Assume responsibility for additional projects and duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager or Company management. Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, drug screening, and required pre‑employment testing. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree preferred. 1+ year experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Materials Management within a lean manufacturing environment. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPM or APICS preferred but not required. Salary The expected salary range for this position is $60,000‑$66,000 yearly. Working Conditions While performing the job duties, you will be working onsite in a manufacturing facility at AERCO International, Inc. location in Blauvelt, NY. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated by your manager. Physical Requirements Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Perform repetitive tasks such as typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods. Move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office‑related materials. Read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks. Communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls. Operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers. Occasionally lift and carry light objects such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
