A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Personal Support : Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.

• Behavioral Support : Implement behavior plans and support individuals in developing social skills and self-care routines.

• Community Engagement : Facilitate participation in community activities and help individuals access resources and services.

• Documentation : Maintain accurate records of individuals' progress and any incidents that occur during support sessions.

• Safety and Well-being : Ensure a safe environment for individuals, adhering to health and safety regulations and protocols.

Qualifications

• Education : A high school diploma or GED is typically required. Some positions may prefer or require an associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.

• Experience : Previous experience in caregiving or support roles is beneficial but not always necessary.

• Certifications : Certifications in CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration and other relevant training may be required or provided upon hiring.

Skills Required
