Job DescriptionSchool of Medicine, Dean’s Office of Academic Appointments and Compensation, Integrated Resources, Academic HR, has an outstanding opportunity for an Academic HR Manager, Leaves and Accommodations to join their team.About this OpportunityReporting to the Academic HR Partner, the Academic HR Manager, Leaves and Accommodations (AHR Manager) serves as a trusted advisor to School of Medicine leaders, faculty, administrators, and HR partners. This role primarily supports faculty leaves, accommodations, roster percent changes, sabbaticals, and retirements.The Office of Academic Appointments and Compensation (AAC) supports 31 academic departments and Dean’s Office units. The AHR Manager is a key member of the team, providing comprehensive academic HR support to these departments and units including the SoM academic departments who participate in the SoM Integrated Resources, Academic HR. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, collaborative, customer service focused and adaptable, with the ability to navigate complex HR systems and processes.Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Affairs, Faculty Leaves & Accommodations — 90%Administer all faculty leave types, including paid family medical leave (PFML), leave without pay, FMLA medical leaves, sabbaticals, etc., while ensuring compliance with University, School of Medicine, and regulatory policies.Oversee and manage reduced responsibility, and roster percentage changes, ensuring compliance with University, School of Medicine, and regulatory policies.Coordinate and manage faculty workplace accommodations in partnership with the Disability Services Office, Campus HR, and departmental leadership; ensure timely implementation of approved accommodations, maintain confidentiality, and provide ongoing support to faculty and supervisors throughout the process.Provide support and guidance for faculty who are retiring.Serve as initial contact and correspond directly with faculty via email, Zoom, or phone to discuss leave requests, clarify requirements, and provide guidance on appropriate next steps in the process.Interpret and apply organizational guidelines, rules, and policies related to School of Medicine faculty.Collaborate and partner with institutional partners (Campus HR, OAP, Disability Services Office, UW HR, Payroll, Employee Workday Help, Policy Personnel Unit, etc.) to resolve matters and to seek guidance.Other Related Duties — 10%Perform other duties or projects as required or assigned.Provide high-level administrative support across a range of departmental initiatives, special projects, and day-to-day operations. Proactively assess faculty and organizational needs to deliver timely, effective solutions.Required QualificationsTo be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications and/or related field.At least three years of experience that shows increasing responsibility in administrative roles and experience, or experience working in a University or academic healthcare organization or medical administrative setting that shows increasing responsibility in administrative roles and experience.Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager.Desired QualificationsWorking knowledge or experience with leave and accommodation related administration, as well as local, state and federal laws pertaining to leaves and accommodation.Ability to interpret and apply complex state or public agency policies and procedures.Possesses a fluent understanding of and experience in and commitment to inclusive language, accessibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion considerations.
