Assistant or Associate Professor WOT - Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgeon

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position in the Division of Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), with an anticipated start date of April-October, 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. If hired at the Assistant Professor rank, the appointment will be for a 3-year term, renewable.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

This position is based at the University of Washington Medical Center. The hired individual will function in a multi-disciplinary practice environment which includes fellows, resident, and medical student teaching and clinical, translational, or basic science research.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a high-volume practice and a subspecialty interest in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery. The hired individual will be expected to work alongside clinicians from the otolaryngology, neurosurgery, and/or ophthalmology teams, among others, as a collaborative and impactful team member. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research that focuses on areas critical to our specialty. The faculty member will take standard faculty call.

All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.

Salary: The base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor WOT rank will be $25,834 - $27,084 per month ($310,008 - $325,008 annually) based on a full-time rate at the UW commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

The base salary range for this position at the Associate Professor WOT rank will be $34,167 - $36,667 per month ($410,004 - $440,004 annually) based on a full-time rate at the UW commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include semi-annual additional compensation through the University of Washington Physicians Group. The UW department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery targets the AAMC 50th percentile for total salary.

Qualifications: Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

• MD, DO, or foreign equivalent, certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of OtolaryngologyHead and Neck Surgery or American Osteopathic Boards of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery (or foreign equivalent), and eligible for a Washington State medical license.
• Completed Fellowship in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery.
• Demonstrated clinical excellence and a record or trajectory of scholarly contribution commensurate with rank.
• In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
