Staff Accountant / Tax Preparer
\nFull-Time · Omaha, NE
\nWell-established Omaha CPA firm looking for a motivated, detail-driven Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is built for early-career accounting professionals (0–1-year experience) ready to get real hands-on experience with a diverse client base across tax, accounting, and advisory work with direct mentorship from managers and partners every step of the way.
\nFrom your first tax season, you will be building real technical skills in individual and business taxation, sharpening your judgment on increasingly complex client situations, and picking up the tools of the trade all while being part of a firm that genuinely values work-life balance.

\n \nWhat You'll Do
\n• Prepare individual Federal and State income tax returns
\n• Prepare business, partnership, and related Federal and State tax returns
\n• Conduct tax research and help resolve client tax issues
\n• Prepare Federal and State payroll tax returns and personal property tax returns
\n• Support bookkeeping and accounting service engagements
\n• Help implement and maintain QuickBooks for clients
\n• Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules
\n• Partner with managers and partners on client engagements and special projects
\n• Build a deep, practical understanding of individual and business taxation
\nWhat You Bring
\n• Bachelor's degree in accounting
\n• Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new software quickly
\n• Strong written and verbal communication skills
\n• Sharp attention to detail and solid organizational habits
\n• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment
\n• Flexibility to put in extra hours during peak tax season (January–April) and as project needs arise
\n• Willing to pursue CPA licensure, either already meeting the requirements to sit for the exam or working toward a clear plan to do so

\n• Exposure to CCH Axcess or Prosystem FX Tax
\n• QuickBooks experience
\n• Solid working knowledge of Excel and Word
\n• Familiarity with GAAP principles
