Attendance Clerk (SY 26/27)

SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, oversees the maintenance and recording of student attendance and absences. Notifies parents of any unexcused absences.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Verifies student attendance. Prints attendance reports, records student absences in the student management database, and compares to parent excused calls. Notifies parents of student absences if not excused by mid-day.
• Prepares and maintains student registers. Maintains attendance files.
• Prepares and distributes other student reports, as required.
• Issues admit notes for students.
• Provides clerical support for school office.
• Completes other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; AND two (2) years of clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Knowledge of:

• Principles and procedures of recordkeeping, reporting, and retention.
• District and Department policies and procedures.
• Attendance requirements and regulations.

Required Skills in:

• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
• Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Work is performed in a standard office environment.
