Remote Service Technician / Mechanic

Cincinnati, OH & Surrounding Territory

Full-Time | Remote / Field-Based | Day Shift | Regional Travel

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Remote Service Technician / Mechanic to support customers throughout the Cincinnati, OH area and surrounding territory.

This is more than a traditional field mechanic position. It is an opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of a territory, build strong customer relationships, help grow a market, and potentially develop into a leadership role as the business expands.

You will be employed directly by the company and work from home, traveling directly to customer locations in a fully equipped company service vehicle. A company cell phone and laptop will also be provided.

When you are not actively working on customer equipment, you will collaborate with the Field Service Manager and senior leadership to help develop new business and build your customer base within the territory.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy-duty trucks and specialized truck-mounted equipment, including:

• Bucket trucks and aerial equipment
• Digger derricks
• Cranes
• High-rail equipment
• Service trucks
• Vocational trucks
• Chassis- and track-mounted equipment
• Hydraulic and electrically operated equipment

The team regularly services equipment from manufacturers such as Terex, Versalift, Elliott, Freightliner, and Stellar.

The work will involve diesel engines, truck chassis, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, CAN bus systems, equipment controls, and related components.

What You’ll Do

• Travel directly from your home to customer locations throughout Cincinnati and the surrounding territory
• Independently manage assigned service calls, repairs, and customer needs
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, chassis, and suspension systems
• Diagnose and repair CAN bus, LMI, and electronic control systems
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs
• Use company-provided diagnostic equipment and software
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, equipment manuals, and repair orders
• Verify completed repairs and road test vehicles when required
• Maintain accurate inspection reports, repair orders, parts usage, labor time, and service documentation
• Communicate directly with customers regarding equipment concerns, repairs, timelines, and additional service requirements
• Coordinate with the Field Service Manager regarding scheduling, parts, technical support, and customer needs
• Develop relationships with existing and prospective customers throughout the territory
• Collaborate with the Field Service Manager and senior leadership to identify and develop new business opportunities
• Help build a long-term customer base and book of business within the Cincinnati market
• Attend OEM, factory-sponsored, and technical training
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and environmental regulations
• Travel outside the immediate Cincinnati territory when required

This position is designed for someone who wants more than simply receiving a list of service calls every morning.

You will have the opportunity to help develop the Cincinnati market alongside experienced company leadership. When service work is slower, part of your role will be working with the Field Service Manager and senior sales leadership to develop new customer relationships and grow your book of business.

As the customer base grows, there is potential to take on additional responsibility, assist with hiring technicians, and eventually help build and manage a local field service team.

You will report to an experienced Field Service Manager who can provide technical guidance, training, and support as you develop in the position.

OEM and additional technical training opportunities are also available and encouraged for technicians who want to continue expanding their skills.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of related mechanical experience preferred
• Experience with diesel trucks, heavy equipment, utility equipment, vocational trucks, or similar equipment
• Previous mobile or field service experience strongly preferred
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
• Solid hydraulic and electrical experience
• Knowledge of drivetrain, chassis, and suspension systems
• CAN bus and electronic diagnostic experience is an asset
• Comfortable working independently with limited direct supervision
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable developing relationships with customers
• Self-motivated and interested in helping grow a territory
• Comfortable using laptops and diagnostic software
• Must have mechanic’s tools
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• CDL Class B or higher preferred; candidates must have a CDL or be willing and able to obtain one
• High school diploma or GED
• Technical school, military mechanic training, or equivalent hands-on experience is an asset
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
• Willingness to participate in ongoing technical and factory training

Territory & Travel

This is a remote, field-based position supporting customers throughout Cincinnati, OH and the surrounding region.

Technicians will typically begin and end their workday from home and travel directly to customer locations using a company-provided service vehicle.

Some longer-distance and overnight travel will be required depending on customer and business needs. Candidates must be comfortable traveling outside their normal territory when necessary.

Per diem is provided for qualifying overnight travel.

• QuickServe, DTNA, or similar diagnostic software
• DOT inspection experience
• ANSI inspection/testing experience
• Dielectric testing experience
• Aerial and utility equipment experience
• Crane or vocational truck experience
• Previous mobile service truck experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move equipment, parts, and tools throughout the workday
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
• Comfortable stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and working in different positions
• Strong manual dexterity
• Ability to work outdoors and at customer locations in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable operating and working around equipment at various heights, including equipment capable of reaching up to 160 feet

Compensation

$30–$50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Overtime opportunities are available based on customer and business needs.

This is a direct-hire position. During slower periods, the technician will work alongside leadership to develop new business, strengthen customer relationships, and continue building their territory.
