Job Summary: 

Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our Cooks are no exception to this experience of a lifetime. Cooks are an integral part of the culinary staff responsible for assisting the kitchen alongside the Chef, promoting teamwork among staff, and maintaining food quality and safety to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests.  

Job Specifications:  

• Starting Wage: $22.00/hr - $29.22/hr   
• Employment Type: Winter Seasonal 2026/2027  
• Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age  
• Shift Type: Full Time and Part Time hours available 
• Housing Availability: Yes   

Job Responsibilities:  

• Use and operate kitchen equipment, tools, and accessories safely and effectively.
• Support the training of prep cooks, entry cooks, and experienced cooks on proper equipment use and kitchen practices.
• Follow and help uphold standards for food preparation, cleanliness, sanitation, and overall kitchen organization.
• Maintain knowledge of current menu items, recipes, ingredients, and allergens.
• Prepare ingredients and maintain par levels based on business demand while helping minimize waste.
• Monitor and rotate inventory using the first-in, first-out method.
• Track and help reduce food waste for reporting purposes.
• Operate a kitchen station consistently and effectively with little oversight.
• Serve as a role model in the kitchen by demonstrating strong work habits, professionalism, and food safety standards.
• Support peer-to-peer accountability by helping reinforce kitchen standards and team expectations.
• Work collaboratively with culinary team members to support an efficient kitchen operation.
• Help assign stations and breaks to other cooks as needed to support shift flow and kitchen coverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: 

• Culinary degree or certification preferred.
• 3-4 years of relevant work experience required; supervisory kitchen experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen practices, and food safety standards.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.
• Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with others in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to communicate fluently in English.

The expected pay range is $22.00/hr - $29.22/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
