Salary Range: $43,065 - $50,665


FLSA Status: Nonexempt


Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Summary

This position will provide administrative, clinical, and care coordination support to a large team of pediatric genetic counselors and medical genetics providers in a pediatric general genetics clinic. The candidate will assist with genetic testing workflows, insurance and benefits investigations, patient communication, coordination of laboratory services, and disclosure of select genetic test results under the supervision and guidance of certified genetic counselors and genetics providers.


Job Duties

• Result Disclosure Support
  • Communicates select genetic test results to families under established clinic protocols and supervision.
  • Provides families with approved educational materials and copies of test reports.
  • Documents patient communications and result disclosures in the electronic medical record.
• Genetic Testing Coordination
  • Coordinates genetic testing logistics including test ordering support, sample tracking, lab communication, and follow-up on pending results.
  • Prepares and organizes clinical documentation needed for genetic testing submissions.
  • Assists with prior authorizations, benefits investigations, and insurance verification for genetic testing.
  • Maintains tracking systems/databases for genetic testing orders and results.
• Clinical and Administrative Support
  • Supports a large group of pediatric genetic counselors with clinic preparation and follow-up tasks .
  • Obtains outside medical records, imaging, laboratory reports, and family history information.
  • Facilitates communication among families, providers, laboratories, and insurance companies.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in genetics, pediatrics, or healthcare coordination.
• Familiarity with genetic terminology and genetic testing processes.
• Experience with insurance prior authorizations or benefits investigations.
• Interest in pursuing a career in genetic counseling, medicine, or allied health professions.
• Experience working with children and families in a clinical setting.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer applications.

Work Authorization Requirement:
