We are looking for a staff accountant to join the premier Northeast real estate management firm located in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. The staff accountant will work on preparing the workpapers and creating the financials for a portfolio of properties. Excellent opportunity to join a well establish firm that is growing.

Primary Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly worksheets, financial statements, and reports for management for an assigned portfolio of properties.
• Prepare, compile, and process journal entries, other financial transactions and perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of account balances.
• Perform, review, research, and analyze selected general ledger accounts; identify and resolve reconciling items and accounting issues on a timely basis.
• Review invoices & expenditures daily by predetermined guidelines, to ensure that all expenses are properly classified and recorded.
• Review tenant securities upon move-out to ensure proper funds are refunded.
• Prepare annual budget for properties assigned.
• Work closely with property management and other accounting team members to research and resolve accounting matters.
• Close books at year end and prepare year end schedules
• Training provided for all company systems and processes

Staff Account Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 1-2 years of accounting experience
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent team player
• Strong analytical and organization skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Outlook
• CPA track a plus
• Real estate or property accounting experience is a plus, but not required
• Hybrid Remote and In office position
• Experience with Yardi, MRI, Nexus Systems, and IBS a plus
