Position Overview: A well-established and growing residential construction company is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer / VP of Finance to oversee all financial aspects of the business. This executive will serve as a strategic partner to ownership while also managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company. Given the size of the organization, the ideal candidate will be comfortable operating as a hybrid CFO, Controller, and VP of Finance, balancing high-level strategy with tactical execution. The successful candidate will oversee a small accounting and administrative team, including an Office Manager and Bookkeeper, while driving financial planning, reporting, cash flow management, profitability analysis, and operational improvements. Industry experience within homebuilding, residential construction, or closely related sectors is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all financial operations including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Develop and execute financial strategies that support company growth and profitability objectives.
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages to ownership.
• Manage banking relationships, financing activities, and capital planning initiatives.
• Oversee job costing, project profitability analysis, and work-in-progress reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Establish and improve financial controls, policies, and operational processes.
• Partner with ownership and operational leaders to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
• Supervise and mentor accounting and administrative staff, including the Office Manager and Bookkeeper.
• Support business planning, risk management, and long-term growth initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent advanced credential preferred.
• Significant finance leadership experience within residential construction, homebuilding, or a related industry.
• Proven success serving in a senior finance role with responsibility for both strategic and operational finance functions.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, and project-based financial management.
• Experience managing small teams and thriving in entrepreneurial environments.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and business partnering skills.
• Demonstrated track record of long tenure and career stability with previous employers.
• Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on leadership role while also contributing strategically to executive decision-making.
