Supervisory Role In Behavioral Health
Supervise, plan, and oversee the work of professional behavioral health responders, support staff and department activities to include community response as well as the formulation of policies in accordance with Federal and/or State regulations; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Community Safety Department management team. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Work under potentially abusive, hazardous or emergency conditions.

Essential And Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of professional and support staff.
- Participate in the selection of staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
- Contribute to the overall quality of the unit's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams; provides professional development and monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- May prepare statistical reports and summaries.
- Represent the Albuquerque Community Safety Department in meetings with service providers and other public and private organizations.
- Coordinate and assist with Emergency Communications Centers of Police and Fire Rescue Departments to establish and oversee assignment of calls; monitor call response times and coordinate co-responses.
- Oversee and respond in person or by phone to 911 requests for assistance with individuals experiencing issues with mental and behavioral health, inebriation, homelessness, addiction, chronic mental illness as well as other issues that do not require police or EMT response.
- Present and meet with members of educational institutions, community groups and the public;
- Provide complex and sensitive management and programmatic support; provide recommendations to upper management.
- Assist in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards.
- Review and analyze and make recommendations regarding matters such as organizational structure; team and quality improvement alternative and legal/regulatory development and implementation.
- Evaluate employee performance and completes performance evaluations for designated staff.
- Serve as the first level of counsel for employees; communicate effectively with all those encountered in the course of work.
- Examine supporting documentation to establish proper authorization and conformance with agreements, contracts, and state and federal regulations.
- Supervise and oversee safety procedures to ensure public safety and security procedures are followed.
- Represent ACS to other divisions, departments, elected officials and outside agencies; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies and organizations.
When assigned to School Violence Intervention Program (SVIP):
- Provide specialized support focused on youth violence prevention within school settings.
- Supervise Intervention Specialists working with high-risk youth; facilitate coordination with school staff and community partners.
- Provide guidance and training for staff in guiding trauma-informed interventions, tools for working with youth, challenging and potentially emotionally demanding environments; use best practices in intervention and emotional trauma.
- Ensure consistent communication, staff development, and program fidelity; promote safety and ensure adherence to a collaborative school-based response model.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in assigned areas.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries from responders and address concerns or complaints from consumers.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Master's degree from an accredited university or college; and Four (4) years experience in social services or health related field; and To Include two (2) years supervisory experience in one or more elements of a comprehensive social service or health related field. Possession of any of the following licenses or certifications preferred: Licensed Masters of Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire. Successful completion of a security background check conducted by the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for light lifting, sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
