Take your expertise in supporting visually impaired students to the next level in an engaging, K-12 itinerant setting. This contract opportunity starts as soon as possible and extends through June 11th, 2027. In this role, you'll make a meaningful impact by providing direct services to approximately 10 students across elementary, middle, and high school levels.
Your week will consist of 37.5 hours supporting a diverse caseload, collaborating with educators, and helping students achieve their full potential. You'll play a vital role in facilitating access to curriculum, providing specialized instruction, and supporting inclusive learning environments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
- Experience working with K-12 students in various educational settings
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to travel between schools as an itinerant educator
- Commitment to individualized and inclusive instruction
- Familiarity with adaptive technology and Braille is a plus
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services to about 10 students with visual impairments across elementary to high school settings
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, and develop customized learning plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure optimal learning conditions
- Facilitate access to specialized materials, including Braille, large print, and assistive technology
- Monitor progress and adjust strategies to enhance student outcomes
- Participate in IEP meetings and related documentation
