Overview Temporary Faculty Pool, Department of Clinical Science, College of Health, Human Services, and Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). Position type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer. Location: Dominguez Hills. Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Temporary, Time Varies, Faculty - Human Development, On-site (work in-person at business location). The department invites a pool of part-time teaching appointments. Candidates may be called upon to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term runs late August to mid-December; the Spring term runs mid-January to mid-May. Summer teaching may also be available. Responsibilities Teach assigned upper division courses in the department’s curriculum and provide weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Qualifications Required Minimum Qualifications A master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline, or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of clinical laboratory experience. Preference for candidates with prior college/university teaching experience and evidence of strong teaching. Experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Clinical experience in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline. A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level). Employment Requirements Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU may make a conditional offer of employment, and the offer may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if confidential information is withheld or falsified. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect employment for current CSU employees who were conditionally offered the position. In accordance with CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is a California state entity and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Salary and Benefits Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background, determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are listed by the department.
